NexGard® for Dogs

Dogs adore NexGard® for its mouth-watering meat flavor. Research indicates that dogs prefer it up to 13 times more than other products.

Safety Profile

All medicines, including veterinary medicines, carry benefits and risks. NexGard® contains the active ingredient afoxolaner. Afoxolaner is part of the isoxazoline family of chemicals. Adverse reactions to this family of chemicals are rarely observed but may include vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, inappetence (loss of appetite), itching and very rarely, seizures. Most adverse reactions are mild, self-limiting and of short duration. For dogs with a history of epilepsy or other seizure disorders, it is recommended to seek veterinary advice prior to treatment with medicines of this class. 

 

NexGard SPECTRA® contains the active ingredient afoxolaner. Afoxolaner is part of the isoxazoline family of chemicals. Milbemycin oxime, the other active ingredient in NexGard SPECTRA®, is part of the macrocyclic lactone family of chemicals. NexGard® COMBO contains the active ingredient esafoxolaner. Esafoxolaner is part of the isoxazoline family of chemicals. Adverse reactions to this family of chemicals are rarely observed but may include vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, inappetence (loss of appetite), itching and very rarely, seizures. Most adverse reactions are mild, self-limiting and of short duration. For cats with a history of epilepsy or other seizure disorders, it is recommended to seek veterinary advice prior to treatment with medicines of this class. Eprinomectin and praziquantel are the other active ingredient in NexGard® COMBO. Adverse reactions to eprinomectin and praziquantel are rarely observed at recommended doses.

This is further supported by Boehringer Ingelheim’s rigorous pharmacovigilance program which closely monitors and evaluates any suspected adverse events reported to the company by pet owners or veterinarians in all countries where the product is registered.
